“Numbers 11” — How to Prepare Our
Grateful Hearts for This Thanksgiving Holiday

As we approach Thanksgiving — a season when gratitude is meant to rise naturally within us — we turn to a chapter of Scripture where gratitude had grown thin. “Numbers 11” tells the story of God’s people, blessed daily with heaven-sent manna, yet grumbling, weary, and wanting something more. Their struggle is uncomfortably familiar for us today: blessings that once amazed us can start to feel ordinary, and God’s provision can be overlooked when our hearts drift.

In this thirty-five-verse passage, the Lord invites us to rediscover gratitude, to recognize his faithfulness, and to receive his provision with fresh wonder. As we prepare our hearts for this Thanksgiving holiday, “Numbers 11” offers both a warning and a gracious reminder: God’s daily mercies are still miracles, and they call us to realize and appreciate our trust, gratitude, and renewal.
